Developing your perceptive powers and training your instincts to observe items as if you were, the artist that designed it, the craftsman that made it, the marketer that sold it, the retailer that resold it, and the consumer that bought / used it.
I encourage viewers to develop their use of compiled knowledge and instincts to the point that, an acid test is merely a quick comfortable means of confirmation of what they already know.
To be a successful picker today requires you to be better at it than all your piers.
By sharpening your skills of perception you can be the best.
You might also need to be early, but it can be rewarding to your own vanity and confidence, to be late and find the best item everyone else passed by because their skills were too low, to see, what was right in front of them.
